JOUR-PAC is proud to endorse Mike Miller for Florida's 7th Congressional District. This congressional district is currently represented by Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL 07), who is running for re-election. We are supporting Mike Miller to defeat Rep. Murphy in 2018.
Mike Miller worked for some of Florida’s legendary common-sense conservatives like U.S. Senator Connie Mack, Congressman Bill McCollum, U.S. Senator Mel Martinez and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio and then went on to serve as a member of the Florida state house, all of which provides him with a proven record of being a conservative reformer: "In 2014, Mike first ran for public office and was elected to the Florida House of Representatives. In a district that was evenly divided Republican and Democrat, Mike defeated the incumbent Democrat, Linda Stewart, who had been a popular two-term county commissioner. And in 2016, Mike handily defeated his Democratic opponent in a district where Hillary Clinton won by 12%. Mike has fought tough battles in Tallahassee including balancing the state budget without tax or fee increases, improving public education by empowering parents and supporting the largest education budget in state history. He supported $1 billion in tax cuts for Floridians – including cuts to the business rent tax which especially helps small businesses and filed legislation to prevent the government from collecting taxes from citizens on internet content. Mike has also taken a strong stance strengthening penalties for drug dealers and those committing terrorist acts and helping address Orlando’s homeless challenges." The following is his statement on some important issues: "In an announcement of his candidacy, his campaign declared that he fought hard to balance the state budget without tax or fee increases, improve public education by empowering parents and supporting the largest state education budget in state history, and supported $1 billion in tax cuts for Floridians. Miller also reached across the aisle to work with Democrats and Republicans alike to oppose fracking in Florida and help address Orlando’s homeless problems. He also took a lead role in addressing the opioid crisis, pushing legislation that would crack down on dealers, whom he said, “are in effect murdering people with opioids laced with fentanyl." Several prominent conservatives and conservative groups have stated the following about Mike Miller: Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) stated about Mike Miller: "I’m proud to announce my support for Mike Miller for Congress today. Jeanette and I have known Mike & Nora for many years, and like us, they are raising their children and serving in public office, all while balancing the same challenges Florida families do every day. Mike is a tireless advocate for Central Florida and will bring his conservative values to Washington and give me a great partner to work with in the Congress." Former Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) stated: "Mike Miller knows that a strong America is a prosperous America and I’m proud to support and endorse him to represent us in the U.S. Congress. Mike is a conservative Republican who will cut taxes and government spending while making sure we completely destroy ISIS and those who would do Americans harm. As a resident of Central Florida and former Orange County mayor I will be proud to have Mike represent me and my family in Congress. I know we have challenges at home and abroad and that Mike Miller is the right person to represent us at this critical time. Kitty and I wish Mike and Nora the best during this campaign and look forward to voting for him in the primary and the general election." Mike Miller is challenging Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL 07). Rep. Murphy has an extremely poor voting record with JOUR-PAC. She has supported billion and trillion dollar, thousand page spending packages and opposed attempts to cut spending and balance the budget. She repeatedly voted against cutting spending, even as our nation is more than $20 trillion in debt. None of this should be a surprise considering Rep. Murphy's first significant vote in Congress was to support extremely liberal Rep. Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House. While none of these votes alone are reasons to remove Rep. Murphy, put together, a picture is painted that shows Rep. Murphy's record as being clearly out of touch with the hard-working people of Florida's 7th Congressional District. Mike Miller has the experience as a key advisor to several conservative stalwarts and a state representative to serve with integrity as the representative for the people of Florida's 7th Congressional District. He is a just, compassionate, results-driven candidate who will pursue justice, opportunity, and reform in Congress. Therefore, JOUR-PAC officially endorses Mike Miller for Florida's 7th Congressional District seat! We urge the voters of Florida's 7th Congressional District to support Mike Miller for Congress.
