"You can be fiscally conservative and still have a social conscience." ---Dino Rossi
JOUR-PAC is proud to endorse Dino Rossi for Washington's 8th Congressional District. This congressional district is currently represented by Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA 08), who is running retiring. Dino Rossi has a proven record of being a conservative reformer who works across the aisle to find solutions that promote justice, opportunity, and real reforms as shown through his service in the Washington State Senate: "As a State Senator, Dino has proven that it’s possible to be fiscally conservative and still have a social conscience. He’s received wide acclaim from members of both parties for his expertise on budget issues and for his ability to bring people together from all walks of life to solve problems for Washingtonians. While Chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, Dino crafted a bipartisan balanced budget that erased a massive deficit without raising taxes while still protecting our state’s most vulnerable citizens. With the nation in $20 trillion of debt and arguing taking the place of lawmaking, Rossi stated that the U.S. “need[s] someone who can help bring people together.” Despite being the first Republican to announce candidacy for the position, Rossi said he is not worried about contention in the district because he has a history of uniting the members of both parties in the effort to make legislation that appeals to everyone. Van Taylor is a former combat veteran of the Iraq War and a current Texas state senator with a proven record as a conservative reformer: "As a Marine Officer and paratrooper, Captain Taylor volunteered for duty as a platoon commander with the Marine Corps’ C Company, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion. He deployed to Iraq where he fought with the 2nd Force Reconnaissance Company. Taylor led the first platoon into Iraq for his brigade and led a mission that rescued 31 wounded Marines during the pitched Battle of An Nasiriyah.
